The Main Problem of the Future Elections of the president of Ukraine must be the Problem of their Legitimacy, Volodymyr Lytvyn, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada stresses
During the meeting with the with the Delegation of the European Association of the Former Members of the European Parliament, V. Lytvyn explained that the fair and legal elections campaign on the whole its stages would provide Ukraine with "the adequate policy" in future.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada declared that for today "Ukraine suffers the moment of truth". "The elections should let Ukraine into the new quality", - V.Lytvyn informed.
The Chairman stressed that he is interested "not only in the result of the elections but what would be done with Ukraine and its people". V. Lytvyn expressed regret that "there is no tolerance and mutual understanding among the political players".
V. Lytvyn has also expressed disquietude regarding "the destroying of the institute of parliamentarism in Ukraine". He explained that the blocking of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine work "is only the make-believe ground to make the parliament not working institution". "One may observe certain peculiarity: adopt for oneself the Law on the Election of the president, destroy the institute of parliamentarism in order to provide the necessary result using divergent technologies", - V. Lytvyn declared adding that because of these fact he does everything possible to make the Parliament work, "forming the common will and implements the policy, Ukraine needs".
Giving answers to the delegation members´ questions, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine expressed thought that European community during the presidential campaign would help Ukraine "through the equal attitude towards each of the candidates and through the equal evaluation".
V. Lytvyn has also decaled that the work of the Association is highly appreciated in Ukraine and expressed hope that the experience of the European Parliamentarians, their authority and knowledge of European processes should be realized in Ukraine. "I am convinced that your meetings during the visit would facilitate the common adoption of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine responsibility for the future of Ukraine", - he announced.
